  • HIDE THE MIC -> I made the mistake of not hiding the mic for my first student doc

  • 2 Cam Setup for interviews

  • Understand lighting

  • When you think you have enough B-Roll, take more!!!

B-Roll Tips

  • Shoot in 60 fps

  • Slow down B-Roll footage to 75% in edit

  • Use warp stabilizer if absolutely needed (cannot use on slowed down clips)

  • Have a short, captivating trailer

  • Submit to other stuff than just what Mrs B is requiring - you already made it so why not??

    • you could win money & scholarships

  • Filmfreeway -> most student categories are free

    • Looks great on resumes regardless of if you’re going to school for film or art - shows that you can create and execute a piece of work from beginning to end
